Player of Games has talked to Swen Vincke from Larian Studios in an interview about Divine Divinity, their upcoming and very promising RPG to be released this summer. Here's a bit from that:
Explain how the skills and spells are going to work in the game?
SV: There's no real difference between skills and spells - everything is treated as a skill. Skills are divided in three ways. The ways are way of the
warrior, way of the wizard and way of the survivor. Within each of these ways
there is division into 4 paths : For instance, in case of the warrior,
you'll find path of the specialist, path of the ranger, path of warrior's
lore and path of the warrior gods. Each path then is divided in 8 skills,
and each skill has 5 levels. A bit of math will teach you that there are 96
skills and 12 paths. One of the unique things about Divinity's skill system
is that even if you select to be a warrior, you can still learn wizard or
survivor skills. This possibility often leads to nice combinations like for
instance the thief that does telekinesis and looks inside houses for stuff with looting potential by using wizard's eye. |
