So, last year wasn’t really the year of the RPG. The standout game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, was pretty much hailed by everyone as the wonderfully immersive Star Wars experience they thought they were going to get from Star Wars: Galaxies but didn’t. Of course, KOTOR was also considered to be less than an ideal representative of the "role-playing experience" by the very people who extolled its excellent translation of the d20 system to the Star Wars universe.
