RPG Vault has a new interview with designer Martha Sapeta from Sky Fallen about 'Blood Magic'. Here's the first question:
Jonric: As an introductory overview, what kind of game have you set out to make, and what are the key features and elements that define the play experience?

Martha Sapeta: Blood Magic is a third-person action RPG, meaning that it is combat heavy. The name Blood Magic tries to emphasize this, and is also the name of the rarest field of magic in the game. There is a linear story line that progresses across five acts. Each of these takes place in a unique environment with its own distinctive NPCs and enemies.

There are several unique elements to Blood Magic. The first is that the game is entirely magic based; everyone is a magician, and there are a dozen different fields of magic to provide variety. Each player will need to specialize in two or three at the most, allowing for many different types of mages to be created: Bone-Fire mage, Air-Blessing mage, etc. There are some magic fields and spells that require a weapon as a delivery system, so those players who prefer to hack at things will also be accommodated.

Another neat thing is that there is a primary and a secondary spell. This means that you can cast two spells at the same time! How cool is that? Some spells combine with others and some don't; it will be up to the player to discover the most effective combinations. Some of the spells in the spellbook are already combination spells. For example, in Earth Magic, there is a meteor spell that drops a flaming meteor onto an enemy. This does bash damage from the rock as well as burn damage from the fire element.
