The Laser's own Michale Palisano presents us with his promising preview for Namco/Flagship Studio's upcoming FPS/RPG, Hellgate London...

Hellgate: London is an upcoming PC title developed by Flagship Studios, a contigent of former Blizzard employees who split off to create their own firm. As the first original title from Flagship Studios, Hellgate: London forms the basis of Namco's new PC publishing division. Since they developed the best-selling Diablo, it's no surprise that their newest project has generated a lot of buzz. It also bears some resemblance to that landmark title in some aspects. However, there are a number of important differences including randomly generated maps and graphical realism that should make Hellgate: London stand out from the pack. Further generating excitement, HellGate London: was previewed to raves at E3 last month, complete with a well-received trailer at Namco's booth. Players can look for this highly anticipated PC title when it comes out sometime within the next year or so. The gameplay itself looks promising and far more dynamic than most other genre titles. Set 25 years in the near future, Hellgate: London explores the aftermath when a demonic hellgate opens up, forcing humanity to take refuge in the Underground. Using these subterranean passages allows the humans to travel throughout London while avoiding the demons on the surface. Each of these enemy types will have a distinct look with their own unique attack patterns and weapons that players will have to confront.
