A rather strange posting appeared at the Toontown Online site today. They have closed the beta (frankly, there are things I care more about), and they state that they have no near term plans to go public with the game:
Toontown Beta Complete
Thank you for being part of the Toontown Online beta. If you would like to be part of future Toontown Online tests, please join the Fan Club.
The server will be taken offline on Wednesday, January 23, 2002, sometime after lunch, Pacific Standard Time.
We offer you our sincere gratitude for your involvement in the Toontown Online beta. Your e-mail, bug reports, and web postings have been very helpful, and a lot of fun.
Why is Toontown Online being taken down?
We have finished this stage of testing, and are now ready to move on to the next stage of development.
When will Toontown Online be released?
There are no near term plans to release Toontown Online.
Will my toon still be there?
We will make every reasonable effort to migrate your toons to future releases of Toontown Online. |
