GameSpy has conducted an interview with David Allen from Pharao Productions about Dominion, an MMORPG for PC and X-Box.
The interview is not all about good news:GameSpy: What's going on with DOMINION as of late? Any major setbacks or milestones?
David Allen: The biggest setback has been the lack of continued funding. We have had to halt production on the product due to the fact that many team members have had to take contract work in order to have an income. Unfortunately, I've already put every penny I have into the project and am incapable of supporting any additional costs without outside help.
Many people think "well there's got to be something wrong then," but the truth is that luck has quite a bit to do with it. Of course skill and ability are critical to convincing a firm to financially back you up, but in the end, it can quite often depend on what kind of mood the firm representative is in, or what they find interesting. It took me longer to raise the capital for HORIZONS and AE than it's taken me so far for DOMINION, and our business materials, project status, and overall company solidity are all much further along than when I raised the first round of capital.
Half of it is being in the right place at the right time and talking with the right people. The other half is presentation, solidity, vision, and ability to deliver.
