Head to Silven for a review of Snowblind's all-conquering action-RPG, Champions of Norrath. The score is 8.25/10 which translates to "unbelievable" on their scale:Using the same engine Snowblind Studios developed for both of the Dark Alliance games and the Xbox’s Brotherhood of Steel, Sony managed to pull enough money out of their pockets to greatly improve upon the existing technology. Simply put, Champions of Norrath is the best looking PS2 RPG I have ever seen. With a camera much better then either Dark Alliance title, Champions of Norrath allows the gamer to zoom up close to see the attention to detail that went into every wall tile and orcish broadsword. With graphics so good that I haven’t gotten tired of seeing the game even after beating it on all three difficulty levels, you know it has to be something special to hold my interest this long. It’s obvious that this engine has been modified, since not even the better looking Xbox version of Dark Alliance 2 possessed visuals this stunning. From the gaseous vapors rising up from campfires that distort the view around them to seamless animations of an Orc rampaging towards you, Champions of Norrath surprises you everytime you play. No game on the PS2 has ever looked this good, and I did not expect the graphics to be this game’s strong point when I purchased it. |
