A rather cool review of the Guardians of the Light expansion for Disciples 2 has been posted by Gamespy. The article lead describes the expansion as half-hearted and the final score is 65. Here's a snip:
It's much more difficult to recommend the game for those who already own and enjoy Disciples II. The expansion adds two new high level mini-sagas (one for the Empire and one for the Mountain Clans -- a.k.a. the dwarves), new music tracks, a sketchy random map generator, a handful of new standalone quests, new boss characters, and a few new features such as an auto-resolve combat button, and the ability to play at higher resolutions. That's pretty much it. Missing from that list of new features are any new recruitable units, new spells, or magic items. It's unfathomable as to why these common expansion features failed to make their way into the game. As a result, Guardians of the Light falls victim to the most common transgression of expansion packs: it plays like a $20 patch. |
