IGN PC has posted up a short preview on the Sega game, Phantasy Star Online, which should be coming to the PC. The preview basically states that the PC version they played is nearly completely exact to the DC version. Heres a snippet:
We're at a loss for words on how to describe the game at this point, not because it blew us away, but because it looks pretty much exactly like its Dreamcast counterpart. The stage and character models look identical, the control feels the same, and the game even moves at the same middling frame-rate as the DC version. It seems that the resolution is higher, of course, but most would have a hard time differentiating the PC version of the game in its current form from the Dreamcast version, which is somewhat of a surprise since the upcoming GameCube version is already showing improvements (a four player split screen mode being just one).
Having a DC myself, and Phantasy Star Online, I must say that unless it comes out straight into the bargain bin, it sure won't be worth it unless there are some large improvements. Anyway, check out their preview right here. |
