Loaded Inc has tossed up their first hands-on preview of 'World of Warcraft':Our first couple of characters which partied together were a Human Mage and a Human Warlock, two magic users together which in retrospect was probably not the best idea. Regardless, we soldiered on and things seemed to be going great, at least at the lower levels. The Human starting point is Northshire Abbey in a region known as Elwynn Forest, it's a reasonably peaceful place giving you time to figure out what's what with the controls and interface. As soon as you start, you can walk about 20 paces and acquire your first quest, this was a real plus. In so many MMORPGs starting out is the hardest part and just finding a damn NPC to give you a quest can be a challenge in the best of them. Blizzard have made sure you're kept pretty busy and as soon as you take that first quest you find yourself being led around the world via the intuitive quest system You don't of course have to accept every quest but they do offer great experience points for characters and they do occasionally bring item rewards which was reason enough for us to keep questing. |
