RPGVault talked to Viktor Blomberg, Chief Engine Architect for Dragon Empires (and thus, I suppose, responsible for the screenshots extraordinaire), and Technical Director Linus Blomberg in an interview they posted today. Here's an excerpt:
Jonric: What are the latest upgrades that are visible in these recent screenshots? And given the projected release date is still quite a few months away, are any more likely before then?
Viktor Blomberg: The engine has been constantly upgraded, but the latest major upgrade has been done on the terrain and the water, which now take advantage of the latest hardware features such as pixel and vertex shaders to be able to produce an even better looking world, with more detail and at better frame rates.
Linus Blomberg: As for the future, there are no more upgrades signed with Codemasters yet, but there have been discussions that hopefully will result in an extended agreement. It's mostly about adding more effects and detail to the world, and there are tons of things that we would like to do. For example, two of the new effects we have developed are a very cool (literally!) blizzard effect, and a raging sandstorm effect. |
