I have looked forward to tis title since it was first posted, as I have with any game that has the Black Isle title on it. After a few delays the demo was released and I down loaded it a played it every which way that I could (and was impressed). Now comes the real deal. Way better than the demo. I am very very impressed once again with Black Isle. Every thing the do, they do full bore, not half way. Keep it up Black Isle your #1 in my book in RPGs (before/now/hopefully forever). Thanks again Black Isle.

Quite dissapointing for a black isle game. Started well enough good RPG elements. Then a little way into the game things went more toward the way of an action game.

Where goes the good RPG of fallout? The building of the character is fantastic, but then? No turns, no tactics, not even a good pause sistem. Just a click click click until one or the other dies. A waste because I waited a lot for the game and the storyline was excellent.

It plays like the BG series, rather than the Fallout series. Definately recommended for BG lovers, but only recommended for Fallout lovers if they don't have anything better to do.

commentI have to agree with everything said here.I too am very dissapointed in the game and have lowered my previous rating because of it.The one thing that angers me most is the hype from Black Isle and Reflexive prior to release. Were they playing another game?It seems to be the norm these days to over-hype a game but what the devs and publishers don't realize is that this only makes the fall from grace all the more pronouced.

Barcelona is great, ( lots of intresting NPS like Cortes, da Vinci etc. ) besides that it's just another Hack N' Slash.

lamu has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from lamu)

Despite the good beginning of the game, I felt the second half as an insult! I'm really upset about this game and the money I spent on it. You can clearly see here that some reviewers didn't play it to the (bitter) end. The review on Rpg.dot says it all. My personal rating is 2/10.

DirtBag has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from DirtBag)

Worthless, give me BG3 or FO3 instead.....

Fazigu has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Fazigu)

I'm giving a 7 instead of a 6 just to boost the average a bit. I don't feel the game is as bad as some reviewers make it out, but it's definitely a disappointment, for all the reasons mentioned. Combat is indeed terribly difficult at first, but my unarmed Feralkin is doing surprisingly well now towards the endgame. The skill/spell system needs major tweaks. After saving and boosting a few spells, I noticed no real difference in effects after dumping dozens of skill points into them! I'm currently relying on "Absorb Spirit" to leech health from corpses. The heal spell is ridiculously limp, as are the potions. I'm using base-level "Divine Might" and "Feral Lash" spells to augment my pugilistic fists of fury, but I'm not sure they're doing much good, and can't waste points raising them further. On a minor cosmetic note, I miss the Fallout cartoons for each game attribute. I realize Fallout had it easier with their light-hearted Pip Boy style, but a little flash when choosing skills/perks would have been nice. The all-or-nothing interface choice is annoying, yes. Another annoyance is that the "Search" mode turns off in combat (which is damn often) and doesn't re-enable itself automatically. There are a lot of things to find if you search, and it would have been nice to have that handled for me. A similiar curse at the tab "Status" which turns itself off every time you load a game. All those gripes aside, I'm still playing the game, so it does manage to be fun beyond the frustration. In a nutshell, yes, it's a terrible disappointment, but it /is/ the only game besides Fallout to use the system, so maybe we can forgive BIS/Reflexive in hopes future titles are better.

R. Ellingsen has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from R. Ellingsen)

Overall it was a good game and I would play it again. Stability was ok, only one crash in the whole game. Combat was difficult but reasonable. There are special weapons hidden around that make short work of even the most difficult creatures. The graphics were good and had no sound problems. The bad was healing potions are hard to find as the reviewer said. Worse is the healing spell which is grossly underpowered. After reaching a level of 150 in healing which cost me probably 200 hard earned skill points it was only healing 12-20 HP. That's poor since the average monster towards the end can easily deal 55+ damage per hit. Thats if you only run into one, many times you will have 2 or more to deal with. Another minus was basically you use the exact same weapons early in the game as the end. They just have some added damage. A patch fixing some of the flaws would make it a much better game.

Hamsternator has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Hamsternator)

Agree pretty much with all of the review. Nice coverage of the problems, highlighting WHY things are wrong, giving you the chance to see past personal taste in games. That said, I would have liked some comments on the multi-player part. Two friends and I played together from the start, anticipating that this would be a lot more fun... and it was, but "a lot more" than crud is not much... The multi-player adds to the game, BUT for the love of sausage... WHY are you all dragged into the same faction?!?! My fighter character became a wielder because my mage friend was the first to join a faction... I'm sorry - that's just plain idiocy and oversight on the part of the designers. So what did multi-player excatly do? It helped combat a LOT. I played a fighter, 1 friend an archer and 1 a mage. Between me engaging the monsters, my friends could actually use long range attacks - something otherwise impossible in the game... well... you can get 1 shot off, before monsters close with you, I suppose. But still - the interface size and lack of support for resolution change makes long range a question of being a few pixels away, so monsters I'd engaged could easily turn and strike my friends... A final, general gripe: Where did the lovely criticals of Fallout go?! If I whack something with 40% critical chance I expect more than the 1 death animation there is in the game. It's not a question of rating, as Fallout has this fixed with gore settings and password protection of these settings. Ah well... I really wanted this game to work. Bottom line - it doesn't. Waiting for Van Buren, now... Ah well

hate_turn_like_rt has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from hate_turn_like_rt)

Cant I make that 10/1 (the one is for a crappy site). Everybody refers to the fallout system. I suppose that is a turn based combat game. Sooo lets think about this. If you WANT a turn based system , why dont you buy a turn based geame. On the other hand if you like a real time game... need i say more. I love this game. I hate turn based , but I don't post crap about that type of game. Soo ppl please choose your faction... (turn vs rt) A lot like diablo , but a lot different. Which makes it fun.

This game is insulting and Reflexive's guys just need to go back and learn how to make game, at least how to make RPG. * The Plot is fine, but still save the world cliché. Why the hell do i need to save the world each time i play a game ? No, i want destruction and desolation, plz make a game that support evil hobby. * The Gameplay is crap, you're just too weak, every time you go in to an unexplored zone outside of Barcelona, ay horde of monsters gonna jump on you, and kick your ass hardly! You can't even run away from them 'coz the developper decided to make your character a handicap guy and not be able to run when monsters have "on Jet" speed, great, imagine in Fallout, you only have about 6 AP when your ennemies have like 11 AP and you need to fight a HORDE of 'em. No, even after you did all the Fed-ex, non combat quests in Barcelona, you'll still be seriously weak. Just plain frustrating !! That is, don't expect to be powerful in this game. Game's supposed to be fun, not an reload exercise. Before buying this game, i heard something like you could play with any kind of char you want. Well, this is true since the game's using SPECIAL system which allow you to built almost any kinda char you want. BUT you can't BEAT the game with your char, not with mage, not with thief, not with unarmed char, not with soft talker. What the point of using a very versatile RPG systeme when you only allow ppl to finish the game with melee combat character ? I feel like being cheated ! Oh, and you can't rest ! Bloody hell, I can't believe it ! *The graphic is not bad, i mean not very bad. But you character looks very stupid (he looks like always on the run even when standing still. The developper has forgotten to put in a stand still sprite or something, which is the MOST annoying about graphic). The background graphic's not anything that's gonna amaze you. The house in the city is too small, the city's walls are to short etc... The design is very fake. *Bug : I didn't encountered any so far, which is good. But a good unstable product is much better than a stable crappy one (since a patch can fix bug, but hardly increase game play). I love Diablo, Fallout, BG, ToEE, DD, Ultima, but this one i just can't eat. There are also many flaws that i can't remember right now to point out. The only good thing that this one is not published by Atari.

A good game, lacking dialogue and story a little though. Sad though that being a mage in this game is rather impossible.

karsten has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from karsten)

This game is a disappointment... I was really looking forward to this game... But but but the game demo disappointed me so much the combat was very hard...and the game is very difficult... I think the developers tried to make half the game as a rpg game and the other half was console game --- just to have a game that is neither a rpg game nor a console game. this game is a hybrid(mix) between to game systems that aren't compatible... Hence the 5, and it would have been lower, hadn't it been for the stunningly beautilful graphics...

Wow! I loved Baldur's Gate, i adore Fallout, and Lionheart is an excellent Mixture of both. Lotta quests and a great character system that grants great freedom in developing your hero. Just grand!

the mighty stamar has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from the mighty stamar)

I think there are good quality things about lionheart. I definitely think it starts out like most IE games in terms of quality. But then after the first city, all of a sudden it changes its sort of a rip off. Theres a whole story, and then all of a sudden " none of that mattered go kill this and this the end"

Kirati Laisathit has rated 4/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Kirati Laisathit)

A missed opportunity to be sure. As far as premise goes, this one ranks right up there with Arcanum. But then again, I'm a sucker for historical/alternate history RPG buff. The game is badly balanced while the story degenerates quickly into a straight kill-the-foozle past the beginning area. A damned shame really, given how promising the game starts.

I T O T A L L Y agree with the Lionheart's Review of Chris 'Limesix' Rediske. I can't understand those that has rated the game with 9 or 10. I think that they has never played with Planescape Torment or Baldur's Gate or, even, with Diablo... maybe with their mobile telephones...

A waste of my money. And opposed to what most people believe, it was not mainly developed by Black Isle Studios but rather by Reflexive Entertainment.

While the first city was fun and interesting, it went down after that, with uninteresting locations, little plot, and tedious combat. I had trouble making myself finish this game. I did like the idea for the twist of history, but it was not played out very well.

Singleplayer game was a little bit disapointing. You can control only one character. NPCs sometimes join your party, but they are really dull and weak. So you're forced to Hack&Slay your way through the game without any tactics and strategy. Maybe it has more multiplayer potential, with really seperated and specialized roles, but I haven't tried so far.

MJ has rated 4/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from MJ)

I looked forward to this game for months. I wanted to love it, I really did. But I ultimately hated it. The interface is horrible. It takes up a third of the screen and renders distance weapon characters useless. You can barely see far enough ahead to launch one arrow before you are swarmed. At a certain point the combat becomes impossible without a melee character. I liked the idea behind the game and at times was drawn in. The religious element and encounters with famous people was neat and I enjoyed the graphica and isometric view. However it was ultimately a great disappointment.
