Gamecloud continues their storm of interviews, posting a Q&A with Max Vakhrushev from Nival about their Silent Storm-driven strategy/RPG, 'Night Watch':
Gamecloud - First, how did Nival come to create a game based on this movie?

Max Vakhrushev - Actually the idea belongs not to us, but to Noviy Disk Company – our partner and Russian and CIS publisher. The universe of Others makes a great basis for a computer game, and Noviy Disk realized it, so they got legal rights for a computer game Night Watch and were looking for a good developer. As Nival is the leading Russian computer game studio with rather rich experience and good technical basis they offered the development of Night Watch to us, especially what we had already developed several interesting games set in magic realities (by the way, Sergey Lukyanenko, the author of the original book and the creator of the Night Watch, is a fan of the Etherlords series). Plus, our Silent Storm engine fitted the future game conception so nice, that we all realized that we could greatly reduce the time for the development using this ready engine as the basis. So this project seemed to be very interesting for us, especially that there are many fans of Night Watch among Nival people, and we accepted the offer of Noviy Disc with great pleasure. To tell the truth, the idea on creating a game based on a movie seemed interesting for us for quite some time, especially on the Night Watch movie.
