A Dragon Empires interview with Community Liaison Manager Calistas was posted at Dragon Empires Warcry. They are asking general questions about the game and so you get a nice overview on what to expect from this upcoming MMORPG:
Q: What features do you feel make DE unique? How do those features make DE to be different than the rest of the MMORPGs?
A: The fact that we have integrated PvP, economics, trade and clan warfare into what, I believe, will be a harmonious whole is pretty exciting! Many games have elements of those features in their games but not many have managed to integrate all or even some of them. In Dragon Empires clans have to pay as much attention to local traders and manufacturing as they do to enemy clans, they have to ensure that everything in their area runs smoothly and without too much disruption. Also, the fact that all this PvP and city building happens in the middle of interaction with other players, on the main map (not segregated away) is pretty exciting I think. As a noob, it will be fun to see big warriors charging around defending their town while I go about my business!
I also think it's great that in our PvP system we aren't saying fighting is a bad thing and we won't punish players for engaging in a game role that we have specifically included in the design. I've always thought it was a bit odd to punish players for doing something you gave them the power to do! By not having free PvP we don't have to worry about placing massive constraints on our PvP system and huge blocks up to stop gankage. In DE, once you're in your role you're free to live it to the max. If you're an outlaw and you want to slaughter your way through dozens of bounty hunters and traders, you're welcome to try! |
