Gamesdomain has posted up their own preview of Etherlords recently. Heres a bit from the interview, which talks of different elements of the game that are quite like the card game Magic.
Every creature has its own power and toughness rating with 'power' being the damage it can inflict and 'toughness' being the damage it can absorb. Some creatures also have special abilities. For instance, a creature with flying can only be blocked by another creature with flying. If a monster has first strike, he will get to attack first no matter what the situation, and if a creature has the trample ability, that means any damage not absorbed by a blocking creature will damage the enemy hero. You can even tap (ie. temporarily take out of action) some creatures, which allows you to cast an enchantment on others or you can sacrifice a creature to give a boost to others. Now, many of you may be wondering what I'm gibbering on about, but believe me, to anyone who's so much as looked at a Magic card, this is all very, very familiar.
