After a troubled few years, the series' latest installment found a home at Nival Interactive, the folks responsible for Etherlords, another turn-based fantasy game. But what's perhaps most surprising about Heroes of Might and Magic V, based on a preview build, is how much it feels like something from the creators of the original games. Nival has given it their own distinctive visual treatment, building elaborate 3D visuals into an otherwise staid strategy game (something they also did with Etherlords). But they've also managed to preserve the essential flavor that makes a HOMM, as it's known among fans, a HOMM.
