The gameplay graphics in Empire of Magic are two dimensional sprites on a hand painted background. The animations in the in-game cutscenes are smooth and fluid. There is a lot of variety in the units. The quality of the graphics may not be quite up to the standards of say Heroes of Might & Magic IV, but they are quite good and definitely do not detract from the gameplay. The graphics engine has a display from the overhead point of view. A lot of information is displayed such as statistics for your units and such.
