This is a pretty scary story really.
Just spotted a newsgroup post on comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.crpg (thx to Ben Sisson who started it) titled "Don't steal MMORPG accounts".

Well, you really do want to take that advice seriously when considering that some hacker kid has been totally exposed now.
What's he done ? He has stolen passwords and then edited, deleted and even sold (!) EverQuest accounts. Then he posted to a guild's forums, harassing EQ players and telling them what he did and how cool he is.

Needless to say that some people got seriously mad at him. One of those folks found out about his RL identity, including his home address, phone number etc.
That individual posted all the info along with pics of the kid to a message board.

Here's where the fun part ends as people are threatening to come visit the kid to do all kinds of nasty things to him. From the reports it seems like his phone must have been busy ever since the number was published.

Of course, it must have been an extremely annoying experience for those whose accounts were hacked. Also, I guess that noone feels any sympathy for this stupid little boy. BUT threatening him and his family is definitely pushing things too far! If those EQ players whose accounts were hacked want to take any action it's got to be legal action and left to courts to decide what -if anything- will happen to the boy. After all, this kid didn't really "hack" accounts. He sent fake mails to his "victims", asked for their passwords and they voluntarily submitted it to him. Pretty stupid as well.
With all that in mind check out this thread at ezboards and promise to get terribly mad at the hacker kid but to not continue the madness some people have started in mindless revenge.
