Jeff Butler (ex Verant) Interview at HomeLanFed

HomeLan Fed has posted an interview with Jeff Butler, who, as we reported, has joined forces with Brad McQuaid to build another MMORPG. Here's a part from that interview:

HomeLAN - First, we know that Mr. McQuaid had left Verant/Sony Online late last year but this is the first official notice of your departure from Verant. Why did you decide to leave the company and join with Mr. McQuaid?

Jeff Butler - Brad and I work very well together, both creatively and from a project management perspective. During the launch of EverQuest, and the development of subsequent projects, we realized that we also share a common vision about where we feel MMORPGs need to grow through their second and third generations. After Brad left last year, following him to pursue that vision seemed the natural thing to do, once the Shadows of Luclin expansion product was wrapped up.

HomeLAN - How are you both making the transition from working under a large company like Sony to creating a start up company?

Jeff Butler - The transition is going smoothly so far. In a way we will be returning to our roots, since Verant Interactive was itself a much smaller company when it merged with Sony Online Entertainment not so long ago. We are both committed to establishing this new company as another industry leader in the genre, and driving toward that goal should carry us through the adjustment phase.

HomeLAN - Are you currently recruiting employees for your company?

Jeff Butler - We have a number of key people lined up, but will be waiting until we have secured a development deal before we actively begin the recruiting process. Interested parties should look for our future press release announcing the establishment of our company web site, where we will be posting any available positions.
