Our hosted site The Locus Inn spotted the following development status update at the Divinity forums:The status is as follows - we are bugfixing and balancing. If you wonder about why it takes so long, it's because the game is so big. (Doing a quick query in the bug database) So far we've had 3359 bugs reported, at this point 2888 of those are fixed meaning there are still 471 bugs open or 14% of the total. A bug goes from
Critical:
(tester died while he was performing the warrior's special move, interface wasn't usable anymore, had to press escape to get out of this.)
to
Enhancement:
{skeletons summoned by enemies, maybe change the colour of the icon hovering above enemy skeletons?)
When those 471 are solved, there'll be another bunch added. Their severity will be less because they haven't been reported so far. This cycle continues until QA is happy. Then the master is accepted, then the game goes gold, then it gets shipped.
I am as I type this building version 1.5 of the demo (including roofs) - compared to version 1.4 (a few weeks ago), there are several hundred bugs removed, some of them engine bugs that affected the demo, but most actually bugs which only popped up later in the game. This version of the demo stands a pretty good chance of getting distributed if no more serious issues are found, but then again, one never knows.
An interesting observation is also that we are maintaining at the same time a german, french and english version of the game/demo, which makes the process not easier.
So to come back to your orignal observation
>>Since there hasn't been any official post in the last 2 days one can easily assume the Larians have (once again) not met the master date.<<
Sure we met the master date - we're now working on the patch Or more seriously, we're fixing bugs at a burning rate, there's not much more that we can do, so it becomes it's ready when it's ready, and that's not so far of. Exactly how far of nobody can tell you - it's all up to QA, but looking at the bugload where it stands now, and where it comes from, it not so far of. Or let's put it this way - I'm planning on having a big holliday this summer |
