A preview of Black9 has been posted at Gamespy. Here's a part for you:
Magic is represented in an interesting way, too. Ditching the Final Fantasy way of casting spells, Black 9 takes an undeniably futuristic approach, instilling players with the power of "nano-tech." Nano-tech is a new revolution in medical science -- microscopic robots, injected into the human body, repair organic matter in a manner that would otherwise be impossible for a surgeon's hands to accomplish. Take that process a few steps forward and you have thousands of mini-bots, all working in unison to create things like wind storms, lighting attacks, or fiery onslaughts. Yes, it's a bit far-fetched, but it all makes a twisted sort of sense. Since they are so tiny, it'll be interesting to see how Taldren decides to visually represent the little mechanisms. During my demo of Black 9, nano-tech was only discussed, never shown (much like a lot of the other parts of the game). |
