The previous reported rumor about the cooperative effort to build glass constructions are true. We now even know where that are for. Here is the official bit:
    Everyone,

We're going to have a 24 hour session, with a special announcement:
Saturday, 1/11/2003 starting at 12:00 Noon EST (GMT-0500), and lasting for 24 hours.

The announcement will occur 23 hours into the session at 11:00 AM Sunday, and you'll have to work to hear it. I'll explain:
Archaeologists from the People's Schools of Thought were digging recently in the Old City, and came across a strange find. It was a bundle of thin wires - Tungsten Filaments - and instructions for making a "Glass Obelisk". These Glass Obelisks, as they were described in the ruins, seem to magnify (receive) the voice of one person standing in the appropriate place in Egypt. The archaeologists have identified this special location for Pharaoh, and he will use the opportunity to make an important announcement.

Each player will be able to learn the Glass Obelisk Construction skill at any People's School of Thought. Tuition for this skill is a one glass rod. Anyone learning the skill will be given a single Tungsten filament.

Building a Glass Obelisk requires seven filaments (so get some friends), 25 sheet glass, and 50 glass rods. There's no need for each guild to build their own (it's a throwaway building), but there should be enough so that each player in the game can stand near one to hear the announcement. I'd suggest making this a "neighborhood" project with less advanced players helping to make lime and potash, and more advanced players doing the glass blowing.
