|
Al Quadim - The Genie's Curse: 8/10 points |
a goog rpg/adventure mix. |
Albion: 10/10 points |
A forgotten gem - this underdog comes with a very interesting story and good gameplay. |
Ambermoon: 9/10 points |
one of the best Amiga rpgs. |
Amberstar: 9/10 points |
Another Amiga classic, followed by Ambermoon. |
Anachronox: 8/10 points |
Average rpg - but with a lot of humor |
Anvil of Dawn: 8/10 points |
this game was released in a time when i was searching for good rpgs like a wanderer in the desert searching for an oasis - a good rpg. |
Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 8/10 points |
a game from the makers of Fallout - combat is a bit too unbalanced and easy - but the story is pure fun. |
Arcatera: The Dark Brotherhood: 2/10 points |
one of worst rpgs/adventures i ever played with a lot of bugs. |
Arx Fatalis: 9/10 points |
Great dungeon crawl, good puzzles, challenging fights, good story, great atmosphere, lots of fun. Sounds like a 10 ? - perhaps, but there are too many bugs and crashes to the desktop in this game, i really hope, that Arkane Studios will fix this as soon as possible.
PS: Hangeth: I HATE down-voters ! |
Avernum: 10/10 points |
Jeff Vogel's new version of Exile, a game in the tradition of Ultima 6/7. Maybe the best skill system of all crpgs, fantastic story, great gameplay, stratetic fighting. 200 hours playing time with a lot of quests. (Graphics are not so good, but who needs this :) ) |
Avernum 2: 9/10 points |
fantastic old style (Ultima 5/6) epic rpg - Jeff Vogel at his best. |
Baldur's Gate: 7/10 points |
For the final city Baldurs Gate i would give a rating of 10, but before that lies a long journey that is sometimes very boring. Baldurs Gate 2 & Planescape Torment are much better. |
Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn: 9/10 points |
great game - much better than Baldurs Gate 1. |
Bard's Tale 2 -The Destiny Knight: 9/10 points |
played this one on my Amiga 2000 - dungeons, traps, puzzles, battles - all you need ;) |
Betrayal at Krondor: 10/10 points |
very good story - good gameplay - play this one ! |
Betrayal in Antara: 4/10 points |
the story was boring in my opinion. |
Bloodstone: An Epic Dwarven Tale: 8/10 points |
Very good roleplaying. |
Cadaver: 9/10 points |
One of the best and hardest puzzle adventures I have played. |
Champions Of Krynn: 9/10 points |
tactical combat and a good story |
Dark Sun 1 - Shattered Lands: 9/10 points |
cool story - be sure to play with the latest patch, the original version has a lot of bugs. |
Dark Sun 2 - Wake of the Ravager: 9/10 points |
"Baldur's Gate meets Fallout - super story, great gameplay, nice graphics, but only playable with the latest patch."
(I confused this one with Dark Sun Online Crimson Sands first - please delete the Dark Sun Crimson Sands rating) |
Dark Sun Online - Crimson Sands: 9/10 points |
Baldur's Gate meets Fallout - super story, great gameplay, nice graphics, but only playable with the latest patch. |
Deus Ex: 10/10 points |
i am wearing sunglasses at night - very cool ! |
Diablo: 2/10 points |
no challenge at all - more then boring. |
Divine Divinity: 8/10 points |
A fun action rpg - like a single player Icewind Dale or Ultima 7, many quests, puzzles, good dialogues, many items, weapons & armor, good skill system, nice story, graphics could be a bit better, some very interesting challenging fights, but too much easy Diablo-like fighting. |
Dungeon Master: 10/10 points |
Dungeon crawl at his best - high difficulty - pure fun. |
Dungeon Siege: 5/10 points |
MTB- More than boring |
Elder Scrolls 1 - Arena: 7/10 points |
At that time it was a great epic game, but it doesn't age good (repetive gameplay), take Daggerfall or Morrowind instead. |
Elder Scrolls 2 - Daggerfall: 9/10 points |
this game is huge - i played it 3 months to solve the main quest and many optional side quests. the latest patch makes this game not completly bug-free but very playable. |
Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 10/10 points |
Elder Scrolls Series - The very best in single player epic rpgs ! |
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: 8/10 points |
Oblivion is a good adventure game, but it's not a great rpg game. why ?
1. rule for a rpg -> I start as an unperfect nobody -> through training and questing I can raise my skills -> in the end I am the hero
... the Oblivion level scaling ruins this.
2. rule for a rpg -> you have to make choices and have to live with restrictions
... with the exception - live as a vampire - there are absolutly no restrictions in Oblivion - I am grandmaster in all guilds - I can wear all clothes - I can go everywhere, evertytime -> no challenge at all.
3. rule for a rpg -> a good dialog system is essential -> look at Planescape Torment
... Oblivion dialoges are stripped down, combined with a silly mini game.
4. rule for a rpg -> make challenges:
you want to go into the woods as a level 1 caracter, try it, but you will be beaten up (look at Gothic) in a good rpg you have to train and equip yourself to be ready for the next great quest.
... In Oblivion you can be grandmaster of the arena with level 1, close the Oblivion gate at level 1, beat Daedras up at Level 1 ... |
Elder Scrolls Adventure - Redguard: 8/10 points |
i had a lot of fun with it. best performance on a voodoo graphic card. |
Elder Scrolls Legend - Battlespire: 9/10 points |
Very challenging - the way I love it. |
Evil Islands: 10/10 points |
this game is challenging and fun. it has some unique features like making your own weapons and armour. |
Exile 2: Crystal Souls: 9/10 points |
graphics could be a bit better, but gameplay and story are top - play this one. |
Exile 3: Ruined World: 9/10 points |
Grand Final of the Exile Series. |
Eye of the Beholder: 9/10 points |
Unfortunately, they don't make these fine dungeon puzzle games anymore :( |
Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points |
when Fallout came out, 2 of my friends and me were playing this game at the same time. in the end everyone of us has played a totally different game. this game is non-linear and there are many different ways to solve a quest - 2 thumbs up ! |
Fallout 2: 9/10 points |
this game is simply fun |
Fallout Tactics - The Brotherhood of Steel: 8/10 points |
good game - but Jagged Alliance and Incubation are better squad combat games. |
Freelancer: 8/10 points |
decent game, but Independence War 2 - Edge of Chaos ist still the reference for space sims. |
Geneforge: 9/10 points |
Cool Story - good engine - one of the best rpgs series |
Geneforge 2: 10/10 points |
Cool Story - good engine - one of the best rpg- series |
Gothic: 10/10 points |
best of 2001 |
Gothic 2: 9/10 points |
Great game, but the greater world in comparison with Gothic 1 comes with a price: Some places are not so fine-tuned as in Gothic 1. One the other hand: more quests, more fights, great final, more Gothic - I want #3 ... as soon as possible. |
Gothic 2 - Die Nacht des Raben: 9/10 points |
This Addon improves the atmosphere (closer to Gothic 1) of Gothic 2, many new quests, a new world and a better combat balance -> it would be a 10 if there were not some side quest killing bugs. Overall 150 hours of fun. |
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 - The Restauration of Erathia: 8/10 points |
spent a lot of time with this one. |
Hired Guns: 9/10 points |
for the Amiga Version. |
Icewind Dale: 8/10 points |
if you want hack'n'slash that is not too easy - play Icewind Dale. |
Icewind Dale - Heart of Winter: 8/10 points |
a solid AD&D-rpg. Hack'n'Slash, but a lot harder than Diablo, Dungeon Siege ... |
Jagged Alliance: 10/10 points |
Jagged Alliance 1, Deadly Games, Jagged Alliance 2 and the fan-made mod Deidranna lives are the best turn based squad fighting games. Character development and getting items is very rpg-like. |
Jagged Alliance - Deadly Games: 9/10 points |
You want a challenge - play this one, a strategy game with the difficulty of chess. |
Jagged Alliance 2: 10/10 points |
squad fighting with rpg-elements - one of my all time favorites. i have played it on the profi setting without too much trouble -> fight at night for the harder battles.
For fans: download the 25 MB Mod Deidranna Lives - this one is even harder to play, because most weapons are new and do more damage. |
Jagged Alliance 2 - Unfinished Business: 7/10 points |
Gameplay like Jagged Alliance 2, less quests, too short (15 hours). |
King's Quest 8 - The Mask of Eternity: 8/10 points |
I agree with Mr. garret :) |
Knights of Xentar: 8/10 points |
lots of humor in this rpg - great fun ! |
Lands of Lore 1 - The Throne Of Chaos: 9/10 points |
very good rpg for its time. |
Legend of Faerghail: 8/10 points |
A game in the tradition of the Bards Tale series - many quests many riddles (vote for the Amiga version) |
Menzoberranzan: 7/10 points |
a solid rpg. |
Might & Magic 1 - Secret of the Inner Sanctum: 8/10 points |
good game. |
Might & Magic 2 - Gates to Another World: 10/10 points |
A classic epic rpg - fight hundrets of enemies in tough battles (and you can save in taverns only !!!) |
Might & Magic 3 - Isles of Terra: 7/10 points |
good, but 2,4,5 are better |
Might & Magic 4 - Clouds of Xeen: 9/10 points |
with moslo this one is still playable and fun. |
Might & Magic 5 - Darkside of Xeen: 9/10 points |
One of the best in the Might & Magic series |
Might & Magic 6 - The Mandate of Heaven: 9/10 points |
the best of the triology M&M 6,7,8
Might and Magic at his best with the magic formula - battle, get items, build your characters |
Might & Magic 7 - For Blood and Honor: 8/10 points |
the Might and Magic is still there - but there could be some more new ideas to improve the gameplay. |
Might & Magic 8 - Day of the Destroyer: 6/10 points |
the worst Might & Magic of the triology 6,7,8 - the end of a triology should be the hardest game, not the easiest, if you you play with dragons in your party this game gets much too easy - a good way to get a better game balance is to play with lesser party members. |
Pirates!: 9/10 points |
Nice game for young and old gamers, experienced gamers should begin with a higher difficulty setting.
Game mechanics are well balanced (like a board game) - with some simple rules you can do whatever you want in the old Caribbean Sea. |
Planescape: Torment: 10/10 points |
my rating is 10+ for this game - playing this game is like making your own fantasy novel - lots of dialogues, fun, quests, puzzles and battles. |
Planet's Edge: 9/10 points |
Might & Magic meets Science Fiction - great ! |
Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 8/10 points |
play it with the latest patch - old school strategic fighting, good story, huge dungeons - I like it. |
Quest for Glory 1 - So You Want to be a Hero?: 10/10 points |
for the remake. |
Quest for Glory 5 - Dragon Fire: 9/10 points |
Quest for Glory - a great series. |
Rage of Mages: 8/10 points |
A very good real time fantasy strategy rpg ! |
Rage of Mages 2 - Necromancer: 9/10 points |
The best real time fantasy strategy rpg ! (successor of RoM 1 and predecessor of Evil Islands) |
Ravenloft 1 - Strahd's Possession: 7/10 points |
A solid rpg. |
Realms of Arkania 1 - Blade of Destiny: 8/10 points |
Very good rpg - appropriate for rpg beginners. |
Realms of Arkania 2 - Star Trail: 9/10 points |
The best game in the Star Trail series - many quests to solve, many skills to learn, many strategic battles to win - pure roleplaying. |
Realms of Arkania 3 - Shadows over Riva: 7/10 points |
the game engine looks a bit old and unpolished, but gameplay is fun and interesting - you have to shrink to bug-size sometimes - it's fun :) |
Return to Krondor: 7/10 points |
a short game, but fun. |
Sea Dogs: 7/10 points |
3d Pirates ! - it's fun, but gameplay is not so addictive as in Sid Meiers original. |
Septerra Core: 8/10 points |
Good rpg. Could be a 9, but every time you re-enter a map, ALL monsters respawn :( |
SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars: 9/10 points |
The german voices are good - the interface is brilliant - and the graphics are fantastic for a rts game with many units on the screen.
The game is a bit easier than Spellforce 1, but still challenging with a lot of quests, the game is very stable with patch 1.01.
A good rts/rpg mix - yes ... it is the same old thing - but I like it.
|
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: 10/10 points |
Close to perfect - combat is a bit too easy |
Stonekeep: 7/10 points |
Good in the beginning, getting worse to the end - the last dungeon levels are not so well designed. |
Summoner: 8/10 points |
a solid rpg. |
System Shock 2: 10/10 points |
one of my all time favorites |
Temple of Apshai Trilogy: 8/10 points |
my first rpg-like game on the c64. |
The Temple of Elemental Evil - A Classic Greyhawk Adventure: 7/10 points |
very good AD&D combat engine, turn based, nice character animation, many bugs, no story - a classic kill-all-evil rpg. |
Thunderscape - World of Aden: 7/10 points |
One of the early real 3d-rpgs - solid game. |
Ultima 4 - Quest of the Avatar: 9/10 points |
with this game the Ultima series became legendary ! |
Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 10/10 points |
one of my all time favorites ! |
Ultima 7 - The Black Gate: 10/10 points |
one of the few games i have played three times. |
Ultima 7 Project - Exult: 10/10 points |
Great engine, only the combat was too easy in beta version i have played. i have read somewhere there is now a difficulty setting for combat, so i can give a full 10. |
Ultima Underworld 1 - The Stygian Abyss: 9/10 points |
cool - but part 2 was better |
Ultima Underworld 2 - Labyrinth of Worlds: 10/10 points |
one of the best 3d-dungeon crawls |

challenging -> play the nintendo version on an emulator for better graphics. |

a true classic |
Wizardry 7 - Crusader of the Dark Savant: 10/10 points |
Simply the best. |
Wizardry 8: 10/10 points |
A great end of a great series. |
Wizardry Nemesis: 8/10 points |
A good adventure, nice graphics, good story and puzzles - fun to play. |
Wizards & Warriors - Quest for the Mavin Sword: 9/10 points |
cool Wizardry-like game. With the latest patch most bugs are gone. |
Zanzarah: 8/10 points |
nice idea - challenging and funny game |
