History of RPGs Part 2 at Gamespy

Gamespy continues their articles about the history of RPGs with part 2. Here's a bit from that:
The brilliant and prolific impact of SSI's Gold Box trilogy really can't be underestimated. The games succeeded primarily on the strengths of their licenses, but for their tactical combat they are still fondly remembered today. The series (started in 1988) also marks the most continued use of a single game engine, spawning countless titles, covering all the D&D worlds, including The Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, TSR's horror based Ravenloft, and even their odd, and short lived, Dark Sun milieu.
