GameAxis is next up reviewing Mad Doc's 'Legends of Aranna' stand-alone expansion for 'Dungeon Siege'. Rating: 8.0 out of 10 points.
I’m uniformly prejudiced in my view of RPGs. I love the stats, the grinding, the slow satisfaction derived from watching a bunch of pathetic losers slowly rise in power to deal Godlike amounts of damage. Sure, you spend a lot of time going to status screens, looking at abilities and skills, maybe even stopping to think about how to spend those hard earned experience points on the next upgrade, but in the end, that depth of gameplay provides a very satisfying climb or progression that you can instantly see. Of course, this is a turn off for some who would seem intrigued by the worlds presented by such games, the storylines and richness of sound and graphics…but find all that number juggling too tedious and just want to run in there and kill something.
