This is a bad attempt at console RPG. I love CRPGs (Final Fantasy, Xenogears, etc.), but Anachronox does not even come close. An extremely simple/boring character system is the biggest flaw of this game. Combat is VERY repetative, and it happens often. The lame plot did not give much motivation either. Only the humor in the game kept it from becoming a complete dud. |

For the first time in a crpg I actually cared if I killed the boss, and when he was a sordid corpse it wasn't enough.
Its also and always terribly funny, quite willing to ridicule the general absurdities of the genre.
Combat is wicked annoying by the time your really into the game - perhaps at one point it was pleasantly simple but that feeling didn't last. Its also a very linear game, which means less depth to the world outside of the main quest.
Graphics are excellent. On the planet Anachronox artificially induced gravity allows for really twisted level design.
Cutscenes are something trully worth seeing making it the most cinematic usage of the form in a pc game. They wouldn't work without the voice acting which is top mark.
I don't like consoles (stupid save points and 640x480) or generally console inspired rpgs but Anachronox suprised me.

Great gme thet everyone should play. At least try it. You won't regret. It might start slow, but in the end it's worth it.
At least check the Anachronox The Movie and you see how great the story is.
This game was one of my most unforgettable gaming experiences. |

Never played Anachronox? Never even heard of it? Nope, it's not had the most publicity of every game in the world.
It's a console-style game, on a PC. I bet, if it was on a console, didn't have the bugs and had up-to-date graphics, it'd be a best-seller. A simply amazing game - if you don't have it, and you probably don't, get it. Now! |

Anachronox is a flawed classic. It's starts slow, there are some bugs and issues, and the combat does start to get repetative. Though look past these problems and their is an amazing story, great characters, some of the best cut scenes and voice acting I have ever seen, a rich and detailed world, and some of the funniest humour to ever appear in a game. If you decide to try Anachronox (and I strongly suggest you do) then dont just play for ten minutes and turn it off like so many other people did, give it a real chance... it might surpise you. |

This is a very linear action adventure but not a RPG where you can develop chars and so on. The story is nice and funny and keeps you playing to the end. But besides this, I didn't like it much. |
