Kevin "Q-PO" O'Hara has posted up his very own Q's Query #16. It's titled "Balancing the War" and 3PO wants you to comment on these questions:- As a game designer, what would you do to encourage a competitive environment where one side won’t always dominate over the other?
- How much do you just let the players self balance?
- If it gets too out of balance despite your efforts, at what point to you come back and meddle? In what way do you do it so that players don’t feel like it is pointless to do well because the designers will just “nerf” things?
- Can you give examples of games that have balanced team conflict well? (doesn’t have to be MMO, could be an FPS or RTS)
- What about examples of poor balance?
