It took some time today until the first news popped up, but here we go: Gamebasement has published their Anachronox review. Here's something about the storyline:

One shortcoming is pacing. While most of the game this is very well handled, they lot the plot move too slow at times. During the very early part of the game you do a lot of running around, but it is back and forth between a handful of locations simply talking to different people after you have done one thing or grabbed another. This wouldn't be as bad except that it takes quite a bit of time to walk back and forth as the games areas are overall decently sized. It also is very easy to get lost in "The Bricks"(the nickname for the part of Anachronox you are on). There are a couple of other times in the game that the pace slows down for so long it won't break your heart to walk away for a few days. These situations are rare, and by and large the pacing of the gameplay is excellent.

Their conclusion is positive, without giving a numerical rating:

My all time favorite game in the console RPG genre is Final Fantasy3(FF6 in Japan). Despite the technological progression newer games in the series have made I think they fail to live up to that level. I don't think Anachronox does either, but I do think it is better then anything Square has released since then. For thosereaders who aren't fans of console RPGs, I described the game objectively as best I could although if you don't like them, you aren't likely to enjoy this one either unless your main gripe is the insane amount of battles involved. For fans of console style RPGs I whole heartedly reccomend Anachronox as a must have title.
