There is a E3 preview of Eve Online at ActionVault. Seems they were very happy with what they saw:
Based on a demo at the show, Eve looks very good, both visually and from a gameplay standpoint. Graphically, it looks just as good if not better in motion than in screenshots, with a distinctive artistic beauty that goes beyond mere realism. In terms of gameplay, since it isn't an RPG, there doesn't seem to be as much focus on character leveling. That means players have a lot more freedom to mold their characters as they see fit. However, the game isn't totally devoid of RPG elements. Characters will still have a set of skills that can be upgraded as they develop. This is done through the use of skill-training kits, which can be bought just like any other item. Once a player activates a skill-training kit, a waiting period ensues before the upgrade takes effect. One of the great things about Eve is that once you activate a kit, the time it takes to complete is measured in real time, even if you log off. |
