GameGossip is reporting a press release from SGO that states they have hired ex-EverQuest designer, Ryan Palacio:
Another "EverQuest(r)" Original Team Member Reunites With Brad McQuaid to Work on "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes(tm)"

SAN DIEGO, CA - May 10th, 2004 - Sigil Games Online, Inc. today announced that original "EverQuest(r)" designer Ryan Palacio has accepted the position of Senior Game Designer to begin work immediately on the next generation massively multiplayer game "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes(tm)." He joins many of his former teammates already at Sigil, including Milo Cooper, Steve Clover, Mike Hutchins and Brad McQuaid.

"Ryan and I have been either playing or working on online games together for almost a decade now," said Brad McQuaid, President and CEO of Sigil Games Online. "We've always shared a vision for online entertainment, and this makes it the second time I've had the opportunity to bring him on board a team that shares this passion."

Palacio joined 989/Verant in 1997, worked with the original "EverQuest" team, and is best known for being integral in the population and balancing of early high level content, including Bottom Guk and Solusek B. He also contributed to the expansions "EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark" and "EverQuest: Scars of Velious." He then continued to work with Sony Online Entertainment on "EverQuest 2" and, more recently, shipped "Star Wars: Galaxies."

"It's great to be working with this team again," said Palacio. "I look forward to jumping right in and getting to work on this exciting project - 'Vanguard' leads the pack in terms of where massively multiplayer RPGs need to go."
