IGN has another entry for Witcher Week, with what amounts to a dev diary called Location, Location and looking at the design and construction of areas in The Witcher:On the one hand, that fact made our task easier, because we created Vizim from photographs and references of real-world medieval cities. On the other hand, it made our job slightly more difficult, because something we were missing a certain element that made the city stand out. We decided on a high level of detail and little repetition of visual elements. We started by studying Andrzej Sapkowski's screenplay and books. Using his descriptions, we could draw a map, taking into account all the spots necessary in the story, as well as those without which a medieval city could not function. |
