Gamer's Pulse has put up a review of Phenomic's/JoWood's/Encore's RPG-flavored strategy game 'SpellForce'. Rating: 43/50.
The merge of real-time strategy with role-playing is not a new experiment. Past this introduction, do not expect many comparisons in this review between Spellforce: The Order of Dawn and the countless number of RTS-RPG hybrids released in increasing numbers over the past four years. Real-time strategy games, in general, have been in a slump of stagnation. While there have been light variations in order to make the genre fresh, most offer novel gameplay with a different setting and units that simply doesn’t cut it anymore. Fortunately, Spellforce: The Order of Dawn truly seeks out a new type of gameplay that certainly deserves a hearty look from PC gamers everywhere.
