GameOn has written a review of Anachronox. The console-like RPG gets rated 84%. It's a recommendable reading, detailed and fair, and here is their conclusion:

Anachronox is not a masterpiece by any means, questionable choices have been made here and there and puzzles could have been more imaginative (see Zelda for reference). However, what we have here is a very good game indeed, with an intriguing story and characters with a good background. As the plot thickens you get progressively more involved and everything becomes more varied. It is not up to the standard of Squaresoft & Co. titles, which show more "measure" and balance. However, if you play Anachronox and are very patient you might well find real enjoyment (the idea of customizing Mystechs is very "Material"). I would happily count it as Ion Storm`s second success.
