Gamespy has done a preview of Freedom Force, Irrational Games' superhero RPG. Very detailed! Here's something about fights:

The action plays out in real-time, much like Baldur's Gate. Meaning, combat is in real-time, both fast and furious, but you can pause to give or change orders. Controlling up to four heroes at once can be daunting, but with a simple spacebar strike you can stop and choose to have Man-Bot toss a car, Minuteman to swing a light pole like Joltin' Joe DiMaggio, El Diablo to use his fire powers, and Mentor to use his mental powers to confound enemies as easily as you might have had your Priest heal your fighter, your thief hide in shadows, and your mage cast a barrage of magic missiles. In fact, the game itself has so many role-playing elements to it that each hero has a full set of skills, can gain experience, and even level-up! Each mission objective is worth Prestige Points, as are secondary tasks like capturing a flunky, or rescuing civilians before the mission ends; these points are distributed to your character's stats and powers between missions.
