Gamespy has an interview with Laura Campbell, the team's dialogue writer and project lead Jaakko Peltonen about the remake of Ultima IV, The Dawn of Virtue. Here's a bit that deals with the fact that it may be a doomed project, even if they are optimistic:
GameSpy: Let's get this one out of the way right now - do you have permission from Electronic Arts or Richard Garriott to remake Ultima IV and our you worried that a lot of exposure could see your remake at the center of a legal battle?
Jaakko Peltonen: I have received permission from Richard Garriott to work on the remake, and I have also contacted Electronic Arts about the project, although I have not received permission from them yet. I'm not worried about gaining exposure, since I have always intended to go about creating the remake in a very open, above-board, and legal fashion, observing all the trademarks and copyrights associated with the Ultima games and setting.
Let's hope that EA doesn't sue them - this might well happen... |
