Earth And Beyond: Interview with Eric Wang

RPGForums.Net interviewed Eric Wang, Senior Producer of Westwoods space MMORPG. After a public test, the game is now almost ready for release (in September). Regarding the situation of MMO games, Mr Wang has the following to say:

    It's true that there are a lot of MMORPGs on the market now, and also due to come out in the next few years. However, I think it will all balance out. The most important thing for developers to do though, in creating a game like this, is to realize that a player's time is very valuable. Not only are you competing with other MMORPGs, but TV, music, movies, and life in general. It will become increasingly important for MMORPGs to offer players a rewarding experience, regardless if they have 30 minutes or 3 hours to play. That's one of the main things we set out to do in Earth & Beyond, and I think we've accomplished it.
