Gamespy has previewed D&D: Heroes for the Xbox. The byline "Atari attempts to beat Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance at its own game" pretty much sets the scene for anyone who hasn't followed this game. Here's a snip:Perhaps the game's biggest edge over Dark Alliance is its multiplayer action. Up to four players can tackle the challenge of D&D Heroes, making it a more involved form of Gauntlet. After enjoying the entertaining single-player game, I called in three of my coworkers to check out a four-player romp. Everyone's reaction was pretty much, "Wow! This was way fun!" The only downer was when one of us would throw a tantrum and excessively rotate the camera, sending the other three into nauseous convulsions. Even at this early stage, it's clear that this game will do well as a multiplayer title. Taking down malevolent wizards and trekking through filthy dungeons is always more fun with three of your nearest and dearest. |
