Former Warcry editor Ophelea brings us this review of inXile's 'The Bard's Tale' for XBox.
It's been more than a year since I sat down with a game and didn't get up for nearly 8 hours. If I hadn't started so late in the evening, I'd have played for many more than 8 hours - hunger not withstanding. The Bard's Tale begins with humor, story and simplicity and immediately sucks you into the world of the Bard.

The Bard is a wanderer, a bit of a rogue. Well, more than a bit. There isn't a piece of silver or lady he doesn't desire and won't do what's necessary to get what he wants. Of course, he'll complain and insult any and every person he can along the way - including the Narrator of the story for whom he holds a "special" place in his heart. Carey Elwes of "Princess Bride" fame, does the voice of the bard with all the wit he used in the movie times ten. The banter can't all be attributed to Elwes acting talents, the scripting is excellent and the actors fit their parts perfectly. I can't say enough about how superb the Narrator is…particularly when he and the Bard begin their banter.
