A quick word of advice is to change the visual options inside the game client. This will not improve lag, but can increase your framerate considerably. When inside the game, click at the lower right corner on the screen. Then choose settings at the tabs on the upper-right screen. By selecting lower texture resolutions, shorter sight-of-view distances, as well as other settings, you can improve framerate.
