Nox was released before Diablo 2, and it received some nice reviews then, as you might remember. Now GG2G has reviewed Nox again, and although no rating is given it the short article, they liked the game:

Overall, I thought the game was great. I spent many late nights fighting my way deep into dungeons only to look at my watch and realize that several hours had passed, and I was up way too late. It is this addictive quality that really made Nox stand out it my mind. If you are looking for an Action/RPG to hold you over until Diablo 2 is lowered to a bargain price, you won’t find a better value. So turn up the volume, turn down the lights, and get ready to kick some necro butt.

As far as I remember, the game was incredibly easy at the beginning, and annoyingly hard in the second half - but this was some time back, so your memory might prove me wrong...
