The Morrowind preview flood continues. The preview at Morrowind Summit, however, is a little different, since it answers a lot of questions that were submitted by forum members there. All in all, well worth a look. Here's something about loading times:
Even though this is a beta, and something as important as loading times will be constantly tweaked up until the last minute, I felt it was necessary to comment on their current state. I believe the longest I have had to wait while traveling between exterior cells, or when moving from exterior to interior cells (and vice versa) is 3-4 seconds. Keep in mind, I said the longest times – in general, loading times have been much closer to 1-2 seconds, i.e. negligible.

One thing that I found very interesting was the feedback you get during your travels. When you are traveling outside and happen to move from one ‘cell’ to another, you get some visual feedback as to just where you are without having to load your map. Let me explain – you have all seen that little mini-map in the lower right-hand corner of several screenshots? Once you have moved into a new cell, you will see a brief text display of the name of the region you have entered just above that box – very useful for determining your general location without having to pull up your map. Overall, the subtle pauses have not detracted from my gameplay experience, and I can only imagine they have improved since the build I am playing was issued (beta build 1).
