"Hero/Pirate, Merchant/Smuggler you decide" LIES! You decided for me. Unimagintive missions, intrusive story line..LINEAR GAME....You promised me a modern version of Elite, but delivered unimaginative garbage. RPG I think not, generated missions are very very repititive, no subplots at all. Ships cant be modified much at all, physics are thrown out the window entirely. I cant beleive what I read when I visit your website, this is a mission based game with no subplots and little choice and boring when story is finished due to lack of different mission structures. STOP LIEING to your customers !!

easy to get into, lovely visuals, great sound and a good combat systems. havent tried multiplayer yet, but the single player game is quite good

Nazgul has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nazgul)

fun game at first, story is really fun to play through, and its really easy to control your ship.. but the game only lasts a week, at tops, takes about 2 days to complete the story, and then maybe another few days to get the uber ship with uber weapons and visit all the other systems.. missions got boring pretty quickly

Wat een meesterlijk spel

Adamastor has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Adamastor)

I love it! Itīs a great way to relax when you come home. I already finished the main quest, and now Iīm just cruising along in my sweet little fighter (well, maybe not so little), doing a few missions and upgrading my titan (lvl 10 shields are nice) and exploring what the game has to offer. For instance, the other day I found out a hole for a weird system where thereīs planets with monkey-men and others with only robots. Itīs neat to be surprised like this. Great game, hope to see more like it!

dserk has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from dserk)

Great game; questionable role-playing game. There is only one role to play--Edison Trent's role--but I'm still working on the single-player storyline. I rated this game a 9/10 because it's really great for what it is. Choices are reduced to accepting or declining missions and deciding what ship to buy and how to arm it. The real game is in the flight-simulator which, as far as I care, is fantastic. The cinematics are some of the best I've seen in a game. Voice acting is generally above par, even if the generated dialogue is cheesy or just doesn't make sense. The sound, art, and animation are awesome but the game is the same as Wing Commander or Privateer... And, no, this game doesn't "belong" on this board any more than a game like Harbinger, but it is a lot of fun!

i like it , a good game

Infro has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Infro)

Competely Repedative Missions,, Not only that, you don't even get to use your joystick.. There are little to no physics involved. There are no subquests,, there is only one COMPETELY linear. This game is one of the worst in a long time

superb

Aaron has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Aaron)

This game is definatley better if you go online as a group through a network then play through a proxy online. Good stuff for co-op play if its available to you I recommend teamwork, makes it more interesting

Matt has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Matt )

This game is so cool! Before this, I had played many games where you are free to roam an entire world, but I had never played a game like this. In Freelancer, you don't just explore a single world...but theoretically an entire universe.

xutoo has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from xutoo)

ok ok ok ok very linear but if you think betther its one of large game-space ever created and think about you can decide if you are in the black side of the force or in the white.....

dteowner has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from dteowner)

An absolute blast to play, but runs low on gas once the story is over unless the player is self-motivated to continue.

master t has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from master t)

I'm usually not a big fan of these types of games, but after playing the demo I was converted into a fan. This game is pretty damn good for a corny space game!

Twisted EndZ has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Twisted EndZ)

kick ass game, and even better playing online. I have 52 hours logged into online and finally got the best ship but still a lot more to do (upgrade to best weapons and such). Try this game, you'll love it.

HiddenX has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from HiddenX)

decent game, but Independence War 2 - Edge of Chaos ist still the reference for space sims.

BooRadley has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from BooRadley)

A good game .. but an rpg and open ended it is not.. if you want to see what it should have been it could have been a newer remake of games like the privater seires.. go here blow that up.. go here kill this person... no variance.

Tom has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Tom)

Good game, although not really a RPG. Linear plot, but still fun.

This game repeat it self over and over again but it has potential

near trash

Mattias Kreku has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Mattias Kreku)

New Elite? I think not. Completely linear and not even an ounce of RPG anywhere in it. If it had become what it was supposed to be (being able to explore planets, towns, develop your character, subquests, huge universe and so on) it could have been a classic. But the end result was nothing more than a shooter in space. Sad but true.

Tobbes has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Tobbes)

A truely great game. Really strategic and free flying. Although I agree it's not a RTS or RPG soto say, it's got some of the best acid-trip graphics and story lines I've seen. I love the game, it's easy to use after a couple days and the online feature is really nice. Could use a mic feature though. =P Overall, I give it 8/10 paws! -Tobbes

Starlancer was much better

Jeff has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Jeff)

I Like this game. It brings back fond memories of my Privateer days. It may not be what the Dev. say, but it is a great kill time game.

Zaabo has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Zaabo)

Good graphics, great combat engine, gameplay a little repetitive but not unbearable

djinn has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from djinn)

Craig Jarvis has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Craig Jarvis)

Excellent games, worth owning, even by an inexpierianced player. The only problem I had is that I couldn't make my own person on single player, I do like to create a character in most games, but still, Freelancer is a must!!

tavaleala has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from tavaleala)

I enjoyed it very much!

woolysockofdoom has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from woolysockofdoom)

It's fun. Not an RPG, but its a space sim. Play through the single player game if you want, but the best is at least opening up your own LAN server and just cruising through the galaxy and becomming a super ass kicker. So much fun, I'm trudging for the Titan the thrid time through now. (The Single Player campaign is fun too.)

Metal_Dog has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Metal_Dog)

Freelancer RPG!? Surely a mistake. Funny game nonetheless, if you like fast paced space blasting action in a rigid plot.

n4tune8 has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from n4tune8)

Although it's a good action game, it's not really an RPG. Interaction with other characters is very limited and generic. The universe is diverse but the ships are completely unbalanced between systems. Can be fun for a couple of hours in multiplayer, but there is no long term goal because enemies respawn continually. Gets old real fast.

Great space fighting game. But to less merchant possibilities. As Elite (on the amiga) was probably the game I played the most in my lifetime, I was waiting a game to offer me this one more time. Freelancer did good, very good with a fantastic mouse combat system amazing graphics even for low config computers. But we are far from Elite who offered thousands and thousand of planets, with calculaed feul, I remember having the first storyline mission after 25 hours of realtime flying, training and building veryyyyy slowly your ship and personality, where Freelancer offers the mission the first minute you go into the game. There is also a lack of learning, the game is way to easy that you pretty know all about the interface, gameplay and playability of the game, and ouch the game is over after a 25-33 hours... I was never be able to finish Elite even after 190.000 kills there where still systems in the game I never saw or heard about... Good try, but made for the people genre. Not the kind of hard elite gamers, who want more and more and more without even be able to end it some day.

More than one year playing this game, no other game has that record. The exploring theme was so important for me. Easy to use (perhaps so simple).
