RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Friedrich Hanisch has rated the following games:

Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 8/10 points

Nice game, could be better, though.

Arx Fatalis: 8/10 points

It has atmosphere. But sadly it is a French game. :P

Baldur's Gate - Tales of the Sword Coast: 5/10 points

Didn't like it much.

Deus Ex: 7/10 points

It was fun to play for the first time. But even playing it different from the first time, second playing through ("realistic") was boring. I don't know what was really disturbing... hmm... perhaps too darky. ;)

Diablo: 1/10 points

I absolutely agree with Superfluid.

Divine Divinity: 7/10 points

Good music, but to much fightning. Didn't play it through.

Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 2/10 points

Yes, it was a great game. But IMHO it is not a good RPG. There were (hardly) no characters (only a biiig data base), a boring plot, brainless tasks and, very important, a lifeless world with badly animated monsters. So what?

Evil Islands: 8/10 points

Could be *far* better. Why this ugly inventory? Where are the interesting characters? Why is the last battle so stupid? Too linear, after all. But I liked the armoury and the settings.

Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 3/10 points

Unplayable. Perhaps it's too old for me. *shrug*

Gothic: 10/10 points

I've played it at least 6 times. Everytime to the evil big boss. And I think, there will be a 7th time.

Gothic 2: 10/10 points

"Gefängnis" schreibt man mit einem s.

Gothic 2 - Die Nacht des Raben: 10/10 points

Great AddOn - could be a little bit more consequent, but as usual - wonderful atmosphere.

Hexplore: 3/10 points

K, it was the unofficial "Gauntlet" follower. But it was not fun, after all.

Planescape: Torment: 8/10 points

I liked it better than Baldur's Gate. But I never loved games with a totally senseless night-and-day-rhythm. NPCs only stand/walk totally stupid on the planes... to lifeless...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: 7/10 points

I agree, one big world would have been much better than 6 or 7 very small worlds. That's a little bit too unatmospherical. Nice story, but some strong weaknesses that where discussed elsewhere. Sorry. ;)

System Shock 2: 10/10 points

Scary!

Ultima 4 - Quest of the Avatar: 10/10 points

Better than Ultima IX.

Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 10/10 points

Epical game.

Ultima 7 - The Black Gate: 10/10 points

Yes, one of my favourites. Why? Even today Ultima 7 has the best tile-engine so far and the greatest plot ever, including racism, religion and heroism. I think most gamedevelopers forget that social problems can make a gameplot really exciting.

Ultima 8 - Pagan: 5/10 points

After Ultima 7 it was very disappointing. They deleted all the lovely advantages from 'The Black Gate' - NPCs with real schedules, looond dialogues, portraits, a really nice world and so on..."

Ultima 9 - Ascension: 2/10 points

For kids only.

Ultima Underworld 2 - Labyrinth of Worlds: 10/10 points

My first computergame ever. I didn't understand any English, but I loved it, though. :)

Wheel of Time: 3/10 points

Boring. After all, it's just another stupid egoshooter.

Zanzarah: 7/10 points

Very nice graphics. But it's not a RPG, it's some Pokemon-Collect-Fairys-And-Fight-With-Them-Game. Neat Style, though.
