The official Star Wars: Galaxies site has been updated with the following:
1) Take on a SWG dev team member in the arcade space combat arena of Cosmic Rift on October, 24 10-12 a.m.:
On Wednesday, October 24th, face off against several Star Wars Galaxies development team members, including John Donham, J. Allen Brack, and Haden Blackman in the space combat arena of Cosmic Rift! From 10 - 12 AM, then again from 6 - 8 PM PST, the team will take you on in one of the most addictive arcade games online.
Start practicing today by downloading and playing the free beta version of Cosmic Rift. By the way, you're not obligated to play against the devs; they could probably use a few strong supporters defending them.
2) An update to the FAQ:
FAQ Updates - September 28, 2001
3.43 Will we be able to write bios for our characters?
Yes, you'll be able to compose a short backstory for your character, if you wish. You can display the bio to other characters if you feel so inclined.
From the Developer's Forum:
1.18 What ESRB rating will Star Wars Galaxies have?
We are aiming for a Teen rating.
2.21 Will there be audible dialogue in the game?
There will be limited audible dialogue, though mostly for color in certain places, not sustained conversations.
2.22 What happens if a character reaches the map limit of a planet? Does the map wrap around to the other side?
Your character will hit the edge and cannot go any further. We don't wrap because we want to be able to expand the planets further in the future.
3.44 Is there going to be a "slicing" skill?
Yes. There is slicing the Holonet, slicing security systems like disabling turrets and defeating locks, and some "investigation" slicing.
6.47 In player associations, can we designate officers and delegate administrative powers to those officers?
The selected leader will have various powers such as ejection, recruitment, etc, and will be able to grant powers to other members of the guild, in effect building their own hierarchy. So, if you want a treasurer, for example, the leader can name one and give him the appropriate powers for that office.
6.68 Will I be able to move my house to a new location after I've built it?
You should be able to, yes.
6.69 Can I command NPCs, like stormtroopers, for example, if I'm their superior?
Yes. It will work like managing pets. You can order them to guard, to follow, to attack, that sort of thing.
