HomeLan Fed have conducted an interview with Mythica designer, Hal Milton. Here's some of the action:
HomeLAN - What playable races will be available in the game?

Hal Milton - This is one of the interesting directions that Mythica is pursuing. We’re eschewing the traditional, “Here’s an impersonal character creation widget…make a bunch of permanent decisions with no information NOW!” for a more evolutionary approach to character customization.

Your character is on a journey from mortality, to immortality, to Godhood. Along the way you transition from spirit to substance, gaining power and worship from Mortal followers across the planes of existence. The more you concentrate on assisting one or more of our mortal factions, the more your character has the option of assuming more and more of their appearance.

So, by answering the prayers of the Alfar you will gradually gain the ability to look more and more like them; or, to be more exact, to appear as an immortal representative of them and, eventually, one of their Gods. In this fashion players can customize their appearance from Aesir/Vanir to different levels of Alfar, Dvergar, and Human. Other players will be able to instantly recognize another player’s loyalties, focus, and power by the level of mortal appearance they collect and represent.
