Recently a 2 day beta session of ATitD was held and Teppy made a short summary of that including the aanouncement of a new playing session:
Well, the Beta#2 weekend was a huge success. From reading all the posts on our forum, hanging out in the chat room, and talking to the *hundreds* of people that took some time to explore Ancient Egypt, I know that most everyone had fun.
The biggest problems we had were the frequent client crashes. We have analyzed several dozen of the log files you sent, and determined that most of the crashes ("Granny 4 Error") are in a single area of the code. Over the next month or so, we will be rewriting that section, although not in time for the next play session.
That said, the next play session will be:
    Wednesday, Feb 6, 2002 from 10:30AM EST (GMT-0500) until 2:30PM

For those that missed the weekend's festivities, here's a recap: Around 48 hours into the session, Enno led construction of a Level-2 Monument of Unity, along with disciples from her guild "Anarchy Online Egypt." Several hours later, Apophis led construction of a Level-3 Monument of Unity, along with disciples from his Guild "Scholars of Thoth", winning the major contest of the beta. Apophis also edged out several other competitors in the contest to accumulate the most Mentor Shrines. He had 10, compared to 8 by Palehorse864's, and 7 by Enno and Stormcaller. All four passed their Tests of Mentorship. Finally, ddn won the Role-Playing award for the "most
    interesting" character of Beta#2.

There will *NOT* be a wipe before this session - Egypt will be just the way you left it, minus some bugs of course. Will a Level-4 monument be built? What new technology will be discovered that "changes everything?" Tune in on Wednesday!

As always, client software for new players can be downloaded from our web site, http://www.ataleinthedesert.com - once you have it installed, it will auto-update for all future play sessions.

    On the Nile,
    Teppy
If you like Roleplaying than this is a game you definitely have to try out and what better chance than go for the beta.
