Watch out - this game could be a very interesting one: Spellforce - The Order of Dawn is a recently revealed RTS/RPG - and Gamespydaily got an interview with Volker Wertich, the man behind the game and well known for his "The Settlers" series in Germany. Here's how the interview starts:
GameSpy: Give us the basic concept behind Spellforce - The Order of Dawn; what kind of game is it, where is it set and what does the story revolve around?
Volker Wertich: In a world far away, thirteen magicians - blinded by the promises of some evil gods - have ignited chaos and mayhem in their greedy pursuit for god-like power. Summoned by the magicians through dark rituals, fierce elemental powers have torn the world's continents apart. Remaining are small islands, floating in the sky, connected by magic portals. Now, 8 years after the end of this huge sorcerer's war, evil tries to make its way back into the world and to finish what it once began. But prophecies tell of a man - a human. Damned to immortality - bound to the powers of the blood runes, he needs to stop the armies of darkness. This is the setting, where the game starts. "SpellForce" will be a brand new mixture of RTS and RPG elements. We are creating a new and fresh gameplay experience - with a couple of unique features, like your own, customisable hero, a huge spell system with more than 120 different spells and - for the first time in a RTS ever - a persistent game environment.
