IGN.PC has put up a preview of Everquest - Shadows of Luclin, together with a handful of new screenshots that have been added to their large gallery. This is our regular appetizer:
Along with the new race and class comes a huge overhaul to the graphics engine, which is where we focused a lot of our time while seeing the game in San Diego. First and foremost are the new models for each of the races in the game. The development team is definitely going towards a more realistic and less goofy look to some of the races this time around, most notably (primarily because we saw more of them than any other race) being the Troll. No longer will they start out in diapers like they used to. No longer will they look like blobs of flesh. Now they're tall, mean looking fighting machines with a much more athletic look. While the EQ team was very excited to be able to make the transition from the old look, they do realize that there are some players that want to look on their characters like they have been in the past. So in that vein, there will be the option for you to view your own character the way that you used to. Other people will still see you as the new model, but at least you'll get the look you want. The new models will also wear armor on top of their base models instead of just changing the body's texture. This allows for greater variation of looks as well as more interesting looks like spiked armor that actually has volume unlike any of the previous armors. New 3D weapons will also appear in the game with some of the bigger weapons in the original game being transferred over. |
