Path of the Thief

Way of the Survivor

Several or all of the skills listed below have short videos that show the skill in action (indicated by the play buttons). There is a small version and a larg version. The small version is in a 320x640 format an the larger version is in 640x480. Besides a quality difference there is also a difference in the size of the files. Whereas the large version files are 200K-1MB in size, the smaller versions are all below 200K.
All videos are in DivX 5 format. If you do not have this codec installed then get it here.

Assassin's Kiss (Passive)
Greatly increases the damage done when using the backstabbing ability of a weapon. Only works for items with the backstabbing ability such as daggers for instance.
 
Level 1 10 procent chance of adding backstab damage to weapon. Backstab damage does double damage.
Required level is 1.
Level 2 20 procent chance of adding backstab damage to weapon. Backstab damage does double damage.
Required level is 5.
Level 3 30 procent chance of adding backstab damage to weapon. Backstab damage does double damage.
Required level is 9.
Level 4 40 procent chance of adding backstab damage to weapon. Backstab damage does double damage.
Required level is 13.
Level 5 50 procent chance of adding backstab damage to weapon. Backstab damage does double damage.
Required level is 17.
   
Lockpick
Locked doors are no longer an obstacle for those with this useful ability. To be able to use the lockpick skill you need to have lockpicks in your inventory. To obtain lockpicks you will have to explore the world, or trade with merchants. If you have a lockpick in your inventory, make the lockpick skill your active skill, and then right click. Your mouse cursor will change into a rotating key. Now select the door or container you wish to lockpick, and if your lockpick skills are good enough, the door or container will be opened when you left click on it. Each lockpick attempt will remove a lockpick from your inventory. To cancel the lockpicking, click the right mouse button.
Level 1 Pick locks up to level 1.
Required level is 1.
Magic cost is 1.
Level 2 Pick locks up to level 2.
Required level is 7.
Magic cost is 14.
Level 3 Pick locks up to level 3.
Required level is 13.
Magic cost is 7.
Level 4 Pick locks up to level 4.
Required level is 19.
Magic cost is 10.
Level 5 Pick locks up to level 5.
Required level is 25.
Magic cost is 13.
   
Pickpocket
Increases your abilities to relieve others of their wealth or possessions. To steal from a character, make the pickpocket skill your active skill, and right click. Your mouse cursor will change into a waving hand. Right click on the character from who you want to steal. If your attempt is successful an inventory window will pop up, just as it would for containers. You can now attempt to steal something from him. Be warned - a character's reactions to stealing can be fierce !
Level 1 Rob NPCs up to level 6.
Required level is 6.
Magic cost is 6.
Level 2 Rob NPCs up to level 12.
Required level is 10.
Magic cost is 8.
Level 3 Rob NPCs up to level 18.
Required level is 14.

Evade Trap (Passive)
Helps you avoid devious traps laid by the hand of your enemies. If you learn the evade trap skills, two things will happen. First, when you blunder into a trap, you will have a chance of evading the trap without suffering the potentially devastating effects of the trap. Second, you will be able to disarm some traps which you detected. Traps can be detected by moving your mouse cursor slowly over the area you suspect to be trapped. If you successfully detect a trap, the area which is trapped will glow red. Click on the red area to disarm the trap.
Level 1 Detect traps of level 1.
Required level is 3.

Required level is 7.

Deadly Gift
Create a dangerous trap for your enemies to blunder into. This powerful skill allows you to create your own traps. There are three types of traps available in Divine Divinity: Spider mines, Trail bombs and Death Scorpions. To be able to use any of these traps, you first need to find or buy the corresponding objects in the game. For spider mines, these are little eggs. For trail bombs, it is a small sack containing a highly explosive powder. For death scorpions, you need a small cage containing the scorpion. Once you have acquired any of these objects, selecting the deadly gift skill will pop up a submenu of available traps. Click on any of the icons in the submenu to select a trap as your currently active trap. Now right click in the world to use your trap.
Level 1 Trailbombs do 20 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 100 hitpoints and spidermine does 20 damage.
Required level is 5.
magic cost is 5.
Level 2 Trailbombs do 40 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 200 hitpoints and spidermine does 40 damage.
Required level is 11.
magic cost is 8.
Level 3 Trailbombs do 60 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 300 hitpoints and spidermine does 60 damage.
Required level is 17.
magic cost is 11.
Level 4 Trailbombs do 80 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 400 hitpoints and spidermine does 80 damage.
Required level is 23.
magic cost is 14.
Level 5 Trailbombs do 100 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 500 hitpoints and spidermine does 100 damage.
Required level is 29.
magic cost is 17.
   
Elven Stamina (Passive)
Grants you almost Elven-like abilities to run for longer periods.
 
Level 1 The stamina consumption is only 4/5th of the normal rate.
Required level is 10.
Level 2 The stamina consumption is only 3/5th of the normal rate.
Required level is 14.
Level 3 The stamina consumption is only 2/5th of the normal rate.
Required level is 18.
Level 4 The stamina consumption is only 1/5th of the normal rate.
Required level is 22.
Level 5 There is no stamina consumption anymore.
Required level is 26.
   
Embrace Shadows
Allows you to become almost invisible in poorly-lit areas. A skill especially favoured amongst members the Thieves Guild. Be aware that this skill will fail in the presence of light. To use, make the skill your active skill, and right click.
Level 1 Stamina goes down at rate 5.
Required level is 8.
Level 2 Stamina goes down at rate 4.
Required level is 12.
Level 3 Stamina goes down at rate 3.
Required level is 16.
Level 4 Stamina goes down at rate 2.
Required level is 20.
Level 5 Stamina goes down at rate 1.
Required level is 24.
   
Poison Weapon
Create even more pain for your opponents by applying poison to your weapons. To poison your weapon you first need to have poison in your inventory. There are different types of poison in Divine Divinity, and if you have more than one poisonous potion, you will need to select which poison you want to apply to your weapon. To apply poison to your weapon, select the poison weapon skill as your active skill, if applicable select the poison you wish to use, and then right click again to poison your weapon. Each time you hit an enemy with a poisoned weapon, it will lose some of the poison until eventually there is no poison left. To apply more poison to the weapon, simply right click again. You will be able to do this for as long as you have poison in your inventory.
Level 1 Putting poison on a weapon yields 10 poison charges. Strength of poison depends on the type of poison used. Poison effects are not accumulative.
Required level is 8.
Level 2 Putting poison on a weapon yields 20 poison charges. Strength of poison depends on the type of poison used. Poison effects are not accumulative.
Required level is 12.
Level 3 Putting poison on a weapon yields 30 poison charges. Strength of poison depends on the type of poison used. Poison effects are not accumulative.
Required level is 16.
Level 4 Putting poison on a weapon yields 40 poison charges. Strength of poison depends on the type of poison used. Poison effects are not accumulative.
Required level is 20.
Level 5 Putting poison on a weapon yields 50 poison charges. Strength of poison depends on the type of poison used. Poison effects are not accumulative.
