Gamer's Pulse has conducted an interview with Etherlords 2 Project Manager Andrey Yemelyanenko. Here's a little bit about the new spells that will be in this game:
GP: What new spells will be available?
There are 45 new Pale spells that can be used by all of the races. This adds a whole new element to combat and extends your tactical options. The new spells vary in strength and are balanced out in a rather unique way. They will be especially powerful when used against Pale creatures and monsters while less so when used against original “color” creatures. One example is Cleave, which will also damage a hero anytime it is used to destroy one of the new Pale creatures, but adds life points to your opponent if a color creature is destroyed.
There is also an artefact [sic] constructor that lets you combine different pieces that you can get by taking side quests or exploring the map to form custom spells to use. We’ve also reworked the runes system. Runes act as “bullets” for spells by setting the number of times that you can use them during combat. In the original Etherlords you had to buy runes, which led to a lot of backtracking on maps to find the nearest known rune shop. In Etherlords II we tied runes to your level and experience so that now your runes will refresh themselves after each combat – making the game a lot more dynamic. |
